This
orchestra created for the 10 years of the imuZZic
collective, with the musicians among the most active of this one,
is in the lineage of the famous engaged workshops of
the history
of jazz, such as those of Charles Mingus, Charlie
Haden's
Liberation Music Orchestra, Carla Bley's Jazz Composer Orhestra
or Art Ensemble of Chicago...
The
imuZZic network so pursues the work begun since around ten years on
fight and hope songs with the Trio the Resistances and the
sextet October or, more recently, with the Bruno Tocanne
"new dreams" trio and the Nachoff - Tocanne Project / 5 new
dreams, as well as a noticed work on bridges between jazz -
improvised musics and pop-rock with the "I.Overdrive trio"...
If we could qualify the inventive musical period of the end of the sixties as "Pop, free and political", it is really in that direction that it is necessary to go to search influence of these musicians:
"... Artists hired in a confused world, they give us a
direct, approachable music without simplism, free without concession...
A succession of pieces which speak about anger, about brotherhood,
about hope, about cordiality and about uprising. Of freedom
especially... " CITIZEN JAZZ 2009
This
orchestra which assumes all these influences with happiness is a
collective group not subjected to the absolute dictatorship of a
unique leader: each comes here with the ideas, his scores, his
sense of playing and his listening of others, to put the
music in division, by conjugating (by cultivating) the singular to the
plural... A
vibrating tribute to the story of jazz in its dimension at
the same time the most popular (a certain attachment to the melody) and
the most free !
"Remarkable
unbridled improvisations... This project exposes once
more the determination of these musicians: to play improvised,
innovative and independent musics while remaining attached to the
melody " CITIZEN JAZZ 2008
